Helmut Rahn
He is the German captain known as Der Boss (The Boss) who came through adversity to lead the team in 1954 World Cup in Switzerland which they won against an unbeaten Hungary team lead by Ferenc Puskas. He became a legend and a German football hero in the final of the 1954 World Cup. He scored the equalizer and the winning goals in the Miracle of Bern match which the Germans won 3-2. 50 years after the Bern match, a lifesize statue of him was put up near Georg-Melches-Stadium in Essen, on the square named after him.
